Pinton x Maison Sarah Lavoine - The art of color meets French artisanal excellence

It all starts with a meeting. The Maison Sarah Lavoine studio and the Pinton factory, guardian of the ancestral know-how of Aubusson, saw in their respective worlds a fertile ground for a collaboration. Driven by common values – a demand for quality, a commitment to craftsmanship and a quest for innovation – the two houses decided to unite their talents to push back the boundaries between color and craftsmanship.

From this synergy was born Esprit Libre , a rug designed as a true work of art. Initially designed to adorn the scenography of our flagship store on Place des Victoires for Paris Design Week in September 2024, it is now part of the Maison's catalog.

Designed by our studio, it reflects a reinterpreted modernism, where graphic lines intertwine with deep and vibrant hues, Aubergine, Terracotta and Ecru. This rug embodies a vision: to transform the floor into a living and expressive canvas, where audacity and subtlety blend.

The Pinton factory, with its centuries-old expertise, has mobilized its craftsmen to manufacture the Esprit Libre rug using the hand-tufting technique. Using local wool, each piece offers remarkable quality and infinite precision.

The tufting technique combines ancestral know-how and modern tools. On a vertically stretched canvas, the craftsman transfers the design of the future carpet with precision. The implantation of the threads, strand by strand, is done manually with a gun, on the reverse side of the canvas, according to the colors, the design and the heights of the wick. Manual intervention allows changes of threads and materials in accordance with the reference model. The chiseling method then sculpts the wool, thus creating reliefs on the tufted surface.

Free Spirit is not just a carpet: it is the fruit of an encounter between two French visions of excellence, a central piece that invites us to rethink the art of living by enhancing the decor on the ground.
